Is anyone else going to be affected by Hurricane Rita?? I'm from Houston (I'm going to school in Waco right now) but my family is evacuating in a few hours, they have boarded up our windows, etc. I'm scared! Just wondering if it was going to affect anyone else...

Actually, I've just heard that it was going to take a slight turn towards New Orleans... As if they haven't had enough devestation!! I'm in Florida, so I won't be affected, but I hope you fare well, Debra. I'm sure that you'll be fine, though.

I live in Houston. We headed to San Antonio on Wednesday. We left thankfully before the traffic started.

His aunt lives in San Antonio and he could have gone there. In fact, he is going to a "Hurricane party" tonight, near the Woodlands. He really isn't much of a party person, so probably won't stay very late. I would normally say that he is doing what a lot of young people might do. The only problem is he is almost 46, not exactly young. One of my worst fears is that he is withour power for and extended time (no nebulizer, vest, etc.). Our prayers are for him and all others along the gulf coast.

haha I just moved from around the san antonio area. Lucky me. Well my grandparents are still down there but should be out of the way. Feel bad for everybody still down there though, sounds like it could get very dangerous very fast..

Received a phone call from my son a couple hours ago. NO rain, max winds approximately 40MPH, lost power - not sure when they will get it back. Neighbor has generator and is sharring it with my son, for fridge and nebulizer. I guess he was right afterall.

Great news Bill! It still unsettling to know your child is in the path of possible devastation. I'm sure you didn't rest too well last night. Glad to hear he has a helpful neighbor. Hopefully Mother Nature can give the gulf coast a break for the time being.
