Hello everyone,

Recently my doctors have decided they want me on the medication Hyper-Sal.I'm ok with following doctors orders and all but the problem i'm having with it is that I don't have insurance and I can afford it out of pocket. Does anyone know of any assistant programs out here that may help me get it or is the medication still to new for that?

Thanks
Sherri

Hyper-Sal is simply hypertonic saline, and not a pharmaceutical medication per se. Some people do well with it and others don't (like me, I had more bronchospasm and it did not increase productive coughing). Since it's not a Pharmaceutical, there aren't any assistance programs that I am aware of. Sometimes the hospital your CF clinic is affiliated with has their own pharmacy and your social worker (if you have one at your clinic) should be able to help you apply for assistance or reduced cost( if you qualify). The only other alternative I can think of would be to ask your doc about something like Pulmozyme, which should have an assistance program.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has a medication assistance program. I applied for their program and they help me with pay for my Hyper-Sal and Zenpep. Check them out!!

do you use zenpep? you can get a 30 day supply from them for free for every prescription of zenpep filled. worth looking into if you're using zenpep...or perhaps worth switching enzymes if you need them....
