I just received some in the mail and im not really sure if i am doing this medicine right my doctor never told me how to use it. It says to mix 3ml with 6ml of sal. then dispense 4ml twice a day. But i have let over mix in the mixing tub so do i throw that away? Then i want to know what i do with the 10% sodium chloride? can i use it next time because its opened? I hope someone can help me asap. Thanks a bunch

you mix 6 ml of the 10% with 3 ml of the .9%. use 4, throw away 5. You can't hang on to the extra 10% solution, because there are no preservatives in it.

Here is another alternative....I order my 7% Hypertonic Saline from Foundation care -- www.foundcare.com --because then I do not have to be concerned about mixing or sterility of the product. The cost is $36 for a months supply of two doses daily and that includes shipping. I have found them to be a very good company to deal with.

Oh yeah, we were told to order ours from the cf pharmacy because they gave really good directions and a kit for mixing it properly. We were also told by our clinic to NOT order from a pharmacy that offers to pre-mix it for you because there have been reported problems with sterility of product.

We just got started on our first month of 7% and mixing it ourselves, so I haven't completely decided what to do -- my clinic was the first place I had heard of that said not to order it premixed (I've heard others here recommend foundcare too) and our own mail order pharmacy has offered to premix for us.

Has anyone else been told by there doctor/clinic to not get 7% premixed by a pharmacy? I think it would certainly be more convenient to let the pharmacy do it first.

thanks everyone for the help. i should be able to figure this out from here. The mixture tastes terrible and it makes my throat hurt and cough alot while nebulizing it. But i need to get my lungs cleared out cuz i have a picc line and im on my freaking 3rd week and this is not normal for me I usually only have it 2 wks and im done. I guess the older u get the worest it is but i can tell its deep down in my lungs which i know is harder to get out so is there anything else i should do cuz i don't want this stupid picc line another week. I do that aceplla (the green thing) duoneb, pulmodized, and i was on tobra for the iv but its messing with my hearing so i can't continue on it. i have a 2yr old i need to take care of so i need to get better. Any suggestions please inform me asap thanks agian and i hope everyone does good for the holidays i know how it is to be sick around then. I was sick for my babies 1st christmas and was misable cuz i couldn't help her i felt useless and i hated every sec of it.
