I get so tired sometimes. I am not trying to be negative, but I truly am tired..maybe from sleep deprivation. I have been battling a really bad sinus infection for over a month, was on antibiotics (by mouth) for a few weeks but unfortunately the infection creeped into my lungs and now I am on another course of IV's for at least two more weeks. I have B. cepacia, very resistant and grew out a pretty high colony count this time around. I am a tough one to treat and the antibiotics that I am moderately sensitive to I am severely allergic to, so the docs are always at a loss...time for desensitization soon.
But, I am grateful that I haven't been on IV's since Thanksgiving, it used to be every other month for me. Since the Pulmozyme was added and the Vest (remember, I was just diagnosed not too long ago at the ripe age of 33 LOL), I think that has definitely helped ridding me of those secretions that sit in my lungs...even with a vent, it works amazingly well. For those who do IV's at home, especially multiple ones, I wonder how in earth you guys keep up with the schedule? I was a nurse before I had to stop, now I appreciate what the patients went through when I had to wake them at 2 am for a dose of antibiotics and why they were so cranky LOL. I actually set my alarm so that I can infuse my meds in a timely manner. Right now I am on Fortaz three times daily and Tobra once a day along with a whole bunch of nebs and my vest. By the end of the day I am exhausted and I don't even go anywhere! For those who deal with this on a frequent basis, my hat goes off to you...
Just needed to vent, you guys understand exactly what I am feeling right now. I know it will get better as my infection gets better, I am going to be an optimistic. I'm probably just cranky because I just need some steady sleep. I promise I won't be Oscar the grouch too long
Hugs to all of you, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
