well keep your hopes high! i was diagnosed 3 years ago with B-cepacia as well, but after further culturing they found out it was indeed in the family of B-Cepacia but was in fact called "pandorea" (not sure if spelling is correct) which they do not know much about...but believe it is not severe! So make sure they have further cultured it because my sputum grows B-cepacia and my doc sends it to some other state who actually determined it as Pandorea instead. I have done well the last 3 years..so i hope that can give you some re-assurance!

Yes carly, ask what Genomovar you have. Within each Genomovar are then numerous different strains, each strain with differenct antibiotic sensitivites. Once they have completed the full sensitivity study, you can find out how many antibiotics will still work to kill or at least knock back this bacteria.
