It's probably due to dehydration, which, combined with coughing, can cause irritation and thus bleeding. Dehydration is not good for anyone, but for those of us with CF, is problematic because we need to get our already thick secretions out.

Alcohol is a blood thinner. And it causes your systems to slow down ie: respiratory system.
I almost always stick with 1 or 2 drinks, and I only drink when I feel good like when I havent been getting fevers and I have energy. Even with just one mild drink the next day will feel like I have drank ten thousand if I drink when I am feeling "sick". I dont really crave alcohol, I crave salt but sometimes a margarita sounds soooo good. When I first turned 21 I drank orange juice and marlibu and kaluha and cream and shots and stuff... but no I just stick with margaritas here and there.
Anyways, I think I remember coughing up blood before w/ alcohol, but it was never concerning to me b/c it would stop. I for a while though would cough up blood before my "lady time" and when I would lay down to go to sleep. I always just didnt freak out and would calm down and try to not cough and it would stop... I was trying to lower my blood pressure.

I never had such an incident...But always when i have just a couple of drinks i definetely experience hangover the next morning...Also theres some more than usual coughing but i cant blame alcohol exclusively.I think the usual smoke at the bars is killing me
