UGH! idk if theres anything to help me feel better.. does someone.. anyone.. feel the same?

yes rosie absolutely you are NOT alone!!
lately there have been alot of threads on this site about depression and anxiety. i recently began seeing a psychiatrist that specializes in treating people with chronic illness.
i did 2 yrs of therapy years back and it helped so much.
then i had a baby, and some family situations, plus the worst year ever cf/health wise and so i began having bad anxiety. crying 4-5 times a day.
worrying obsessivly about death. so i found this doctor and reluctantly went to see her. it was like a 100lb weight was lifted off my shoulders. man, we cfers carry so much, of course it is understandable that we-not might,-but WILL likely get depressed or have anxiety. i'm so glad i got treatment.
don't waste another minute of your life-go talk to someone!
you have a life worth living.
my faith in God and the relationships in my congregation helped out alot too.
there's alot you can do. i really hope you find the answers you are looking for.

Hi Rosie

I don't have CF but I have been depressed. In my opinion, if you are concerned enough that something may be "wrong" then there is not reason to not seek professional help.

A therapist, a social worker , maybe even one of your CF docs may be able to help you sort out what you are feeling and point you toward the right solution. For me it was therapy and medication, both for a very short while, thankfully. But, it's different for everyone.

It doesn't matter if it's really depression or anxiety or just that you are stuck in a place that's hard to get out of. If you don't feel right, seek help. You lose nothing in trying.

Good luck to you.

Rosie-

Very sorry about your Dad. I actually lost a 16 year old cousin and an uncle to an accident 8 years ago, so I know that there is really nothing to do to cover that pain. It just takes time.

On the CF side though there is certainly stuff you can be doing. I have CFDR as well and I found that through proper diet and exercise I was able to relieve most if not all of the symptoms. It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but it was of course worth it. Also, are you being faithful with your treatments? Could you be doing more? Sometimes CF sucks and it's hard or time consuming to take care of but you really don't have a choice in the matter if you want to improve your quality of life.

I certainly believe that talking to a trained professional can certainly help as well. I have no experience with that, but I know plenty of people who have chosen that path.

Message me if there is anything I can do for you.
