Well the blood sugar is a separate issue from the lung infection. (edit: to clarify, I mean they are seperate issues just from what you described... if your blood sugars continue to be a problem, they can certainly interfere with the care of your lungs because your diet will be messed up, you will feel crummy, etc etc) Your doctor can help you with both though.

It sounds like you need better teaching as far as high/low blood sugar treatments go, though. When you are low, it is tempting to gobble up lots off candy or pure sugars - but you don't want to do that. It will inevitably send your blood sugar in the other direction and you will feel the sickness of a high blood sugar. Like froggy said, you want to eat something that is a combination of simple and complex carbs. Also some protein will help balance it out (this is just a personal preference I've found, but I don't remember a doctor telling me to do this) A turkey sandwich and maybe 1 small piece of candy, or a sip of pop or juice is a good example. The pop/candy will give your blood sugar an immediate boost, and the sandwich will help you in the long run.

Talk to your doctor about your blood sugars if they are a problem for you, perhaps you might want to start seeing an endocrinologist to help you out some more. Also, he took you off Cipro but didn't put you on anything else? That's kind of odd. If your lungs feel bad you might want to press to be put on something else.

Thanks guys!

I am so sleepy I just got over a really bad coughing fit. becuase we called the doc on call and she wants me to cough up some junk to test. I got some and I will bring it in soon. My dad had type 1 so I know and my mom knows allot about it. I had a chicken dinner when the suger was low and some tea. So that was ok. It did't go up right alway so mom had me take some glocose. My dad had a pump so that was helpful for him. I am getting the A1C test report Monday. so that should tell us somthing. The doc is not going to put me on anything eles till she knows what is growing in my lungs. And once the over with I may have to go in to the hospital for a tune-up or have IV's at home. My doc is for IV meds and does not like to use them till she knows whats going on in there.

My mom is so sad after she saw me cough so bad for 30mins. And man the junk that sits in my lung and tummy is just sick. I cryed becuase I hate CF and I want a cure for all of us!

Thanks guys for being there.

Just to clarify , when your sugar goes really low (and this is why you need a monitor, btw ), first eat something that is mainly sugar (keeping the amount reasonable, of course -like a roll or 2 or sweettarts, not the whole bag, lol , or some fruit juice ), and then follow up with something like the sandwich, etc. to keep it up. If you just eat the sandwich first when you are really low, your blood sugar may continue to drop while your body is proccessing the complex carbohydrates, and that would be bad... And wait 15 minutes after you eat something, and check it again.

I hope you are feeling better soon .
