Hello everybody,

I am a Canadian living with CF and I feel for all you Americans struggling with this illnes. I recently saw the Michael Moore documentary Sicko and could not believe what I was watching. Canada's health system is far from perfect but I would never move to the U.S. 90% of my CF medication is covered by the Canadian CF Foundation. The other 10% is covered by my wifes benefit plan through her employer. The benefit plan covers 80% of the cost and I have to pay the other 20%.

And from what I hear, none of us cystic Americans can even defect to Canada (or elsewhere) because they won't allow us to become citizens - the cost of caring for us would be too big a burden on their healthcare system. I was told, specifically, that this was true of Australia and others in chat during that conversation said it was likely true for all countries with 'socialized' healthcare. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
