I feel like they have given my daughter a death sentence

Ditto on what everyone else is saying. Our son was diagnosed shortly after he was born. We were pretty much blindsided by the diagnosis. Normal pregnancy, no family history. We just take things day by day. Got into a routine. At first I wrote EVERYTHING down -- meds, amounts he drank -- just to keep track of stuff.

Today he's a very busy preschooler. Wouldn't know by looking at him that he has CF.

It is remarkable people with CF. There are many people living long and remarkable lives with CF. CF does not define who they are and it will not define who your daughter is either.

First I want to tell you that you are not alone. You will find there are lots of people out there who are or have been where you are. Our daughter is nine and we received the dx only a couple of weeks ago. I can understand what you mean about being hit with a ton of bricks, we felt very much the same. Our daughter has been ill off and on since birth but it was still a shock to actually get the diagnosis. The only thing I can give you is to love your daughter, be just what you are, her mom and have hope and faith that you will be lead in the right directions to the right people who will help you help your daughter. God bless.
