Hi Kortney,
What I didn't mention in my post was everything you're going through now. I ttc'd naturally at home for 12 months before asking my OB for help. I "heard" on the internets that is the length of time you should "try" on your own before seeking help. (see, we're more alike than you think! I too sometimes feel I know more than my doctors.) The very first test my OB ordered was the HSG. When that came back all clear, I was referred to the fertility clinic. So it is my understanding that you do need to have that test under your belt before seeing the fertility doc, or maybe the RE would order one anyway. I don't know. Basically you are ruling out blocked tubes with the test. And it's not as painful as everyone describes. I was scared out of my mind when I went in to have it done. I took 800 mg of motrin before the procedure and I was fine.
Good luck to you. I mean that in the most sincere way. I know what it's like when that biological clock sounds off. I ttc'd 26 months before i got pregnant. It's long hard frustrating road, but so worth it in the end, no matter how the baby gets here.
