Hi Carly,

Coughing up blood can be very frightening for sure.. There could be so many reasons for having a bleed..

Some say it happens when the get their period .. Sometimes infection/inflammation/irritation can bring it on. I know using bleach or other strong cleaning agents is a no no for me..

I hope when you see your dr he explains & tries to reassure you as best he/she can..

Take care & keep us posted {{{hugs}}} to you <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni

It happened to me too! About three years ago now I think.

It is a common symptom for cf'ers. Just definitely lay low this weekend, meaning, no airway clearance and nothing that will raise your blood pressure like activies or even just bending at the waist... you are trying to let the vessel heal in your lungs is why.

We are all here for you! And it can be scary, you should have better answers when you talk to your doctor monday.

If you start coughing more and more up, go to an ER and of course, let your doctor know. But otherwise, just let it heal up over the weekend okay.

Hey,

I get bleeding pretty often (a couple of times a year since i was about 13 or 14) and usually right after i notice it i take a vitamin k (prescription) which thickens your blood so i guess it scabs where the bleeding area is. Bleeding usually stops within 5-10 minutes for me. My doctor told me that as long as the bleeding stops and is no more than like 1/4 of a cup that its not something to be extremely concerned about.
