I hate smoking

I know we have had conversations about this time and time again but I absolutely hate, and I mean HATE smoking! I went out to the pub at lunch time with my colleagues cos it is our last day in work before Christmas and it was full of smoke - disgusting! Anyways, I know we don't have to go into pubs and we enter them at our own free will, but at the end of the day it is fo unfair to people who can't stand it and don't smoke. Anyways, April next year 2007 they are going to abolish all smoking in public places. Can't wait.

Thanks for letting me let off a bit of steam. Any comments?!!!!!

I use to smoke from about the age of 10, before I was diagnosed , and I smoked for a couple of years after I was diagnosed aswell, largely because I was in denial about my illness. I only quit about 2 years ago, so ***** I was smoking for 4 years whilst knowing I had CF It was a good stress buster I must admit, but after being diagnosed that went away and every time I smoked I felt incredibly guilty, quite rightly so aswell lol. Now I absolutely despise it.

I'm from the UK aswell and I cant wait for the smoking ban to come into force, it was meant to be January, then I heard its been moved back to June. Alot of restaurants have either imposed the ban already, or going along with the original date and bringing in this policy in Januaray on their own accord. I cant see how its going to work for clubs though, how the heck are they going to stop people from smoking in a club with 2000 people in? They can't, thats the answer.

I can't stand it either. I have missed a lot of functions/birthdays/parties/celebrations over the years because I couldn't stand to be in a smoky environment. It's kind of ruined my experience with these places and now I don't even want to go when there's no smoking!

Our 'smoking in indoor public places' ban came into effect this year, on 1 December. Honestly, it hasn't really made a difference for me yet because people still smoke outside, where I spend most of my time -- in the bus interchange, outside my work building, outside shopping centres, and just walking to and from places I need to get. But hopefully if I get invited out to a pub or club, I'll be able to go and not cough up lovely black stuff the next day.

i hate almost everyting about california but the one thing i'm proud of is that my state started the no smoking in public places thing. i know it's made a huge difference in my health.

went i go to europe to visit my boyfriend's family, i have a hard time to going out to eat to restaurants because everyone is smoking. his aunt was pregnant a few years ago and she was forced to breath the 2nd hand smoke in the restaurant. HELLO!

it also makes it difficult to go out to social events like clubs, discos, etc. i have no clue how people with lung problems survive where there is smoke in public places (many states in the US still have it).

when i went to spain in 1995 there was smoking on the plane!!! HAHAHAHA. can u believe that? thank goodness the airlines have changed their tune.

ultimately, i agree. smoke sucks.

Then you should move to Scotland until the ban comes in to effect, its the 27th of July, I beleive. And as for smoking in pubs and clubs here, it just does not happen, we have accepted the ban here, and you know how bad the smoking rate in Scotland is.
