I hate TOBI

Would the older sister, even though she is young, consider being in the room and maybe wearing a mask too to show her little sister that it's fun and cool. Does your daughter use a mask? They have cool ones that have designs/shapes and such onthem. Maybe if she has a favorite movie, toy or game you can use that. All in all though, I think a lot of success stories I have heard come from an older sibling "doing" the nebulizer (for a few minutes with no meds) first and then the younger one does it, or they both wear masks at the same time and lay together watching a movie or something. Just an idea, I have a husband with CF, not a child... but I do know that older siblings can be really impressionable.

It might help the older one too, maybe she won't be so upset if she gets to be involved in helping out.

DS is 2 1/2 and has been on tobi since he was 3 months old. We administer it after CPT in the morning, he usually sleeps thru that one. The after school one is a little more complicated 'cuz he's awake and doesn't want to sit still. We went thru some screaming fits from about 18 months to 26 months off and on. We'd sheepishly say, well, he's getting it into his lungs with those screams, but it was a struggle.

Eventually he did get used to it and his screaming fits were pretty much every few months he'd become unglued for several days in a row. Currently he hangs out with his dad in our bed after CPT and they watch cartoons or whatever DVD he chooses. Sometimes he has a snack -- last week he wanted dill pickles and jelly beans. Last week it was green olives, which he managed to spill on MY pillow. We did find that the pari took about 10-15 minutes longer, so we ordered a devillbiss pulmooaid online after using an older model a cousin with asthma gave us to use at the inlaws vacation home during the summer. Hey everyone!

Thanks for the replies. We've managed to hang in there and will finish this round of TOBI on Friday. The Baby Einstein videos have helped. I actually don't know why we didn't think of it ourselves, since she has watched them intently on a coulple occasions with out the nebs. Things have settled down a bit, but we'll be very glad when we're done with this round. I'll be taking the list of suggestions for a different neb cup, taking a break, etc to our next clinic visit to talk things over with our team. Once again, I am so greatful four your input so that I can go into our visit "armed and ready." That sounds hostile and it isn't meant to be, I'm just very glad for the info! Thanks again!

The prescription our Dr. gave for our 2 year-old was to do 1/2 ampule twice a day; it makes it take a little less time to run through it. Might be worth asking about that option. As for the bad taste, our boy likes to have Altoid mints, popsicles, and water handy while doing treatments.
