I keep falling - need help

I have been on IV antibiotics a lot this past year and all of a sudden my right ankle keeps twisting and I fall. When I try to stand back up on it, it twists again like a limp rope. Today I fell 6 times but can't figure out what's going on. I feel like some of my medicines are building a toxic level in my body. I called my doctor and they told me to stop taking VFend (taking for sketosporin?? Bacteria) and to come see them. I was wondering if anyone else ever experienced anything like this? I'm also on Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Xyzal, ProAir inhaler, Oxycodone, and Protonix among a few others. I was on a really high dose of VFend and wondering if it has anything to do with this. I also have CFRD but checked my blood sugar and it was 120. I'm afraid to go anywhere now. It's very embarrassing and is happening more frequently now.

Vfend is for a fungal infection and not PA. Which antibiotic are you taking? It wouldn't happen to be Cipro would it?

Which antibiotic?

Also, I have never heard of sketosporin bacteria, but if they are treating you with an antifungal, I doubt it's a bacteria.

I've been on Collisten, Merripenum, for 3 weeks in Dec and 4 weeks in Jan and then they switched out the Merripenim to something else for a week in January. I can't take Tobramiacin - I have renal toxicity to it. I still have to do Tobi nebs which don't agree with me either.

The reason I ask is that tendon ruptures are a side effect of quinolones. You haven't listed any, but there was that unknown in January. I'm not aware of Vfend causing tendon ruptures.

Of course, it's possible that you strained or tore a tendon or ligament the first time you fell and it keeps getting re-injured. Have they talked about getting any radiology studies done?

Ive been on Cipro a lot within the past 3 months. I have also been on Zosyn, levaquin, and high doses of Bactrim (for MRSA). I just feel like the combination of all of these may have something to do with it. I have also had problems with anemia. I stopped taking upon recently so I'm going to have that re-checked. I'm not on any of the above medicines now but I just started walking again (for exercise) and haven't been very active for the months while I was sick. I will check into that at my appt.

Sassy, I second Havoc. I've had lots of musculoskeletal issues from cipro and some other meds. I used to sprain my ankles on a regular basis when I was on them a lot and have scads of joint/muscle pain and weakness.

My Dad, who I believe had CF, had a nuralogical problem called Sharko, Marie, Tooth. The symptoms were extremely similar to what you described.
