By the way--the doctor I referenced in my earlier post is an ID doctor. I don't go to a CF clinic, but basically am cared for by two doctors who work together to treat me--an ID doc and pulmonary doc.
Obviously in this sort of case, I needed the expertise of an ID specialist.
She has always been careful to say as well that it is possible. However, I think the point in this case is that it's not a likely enough scenario to warrant losing the job.
Just by living, people run the risk of getting sick, and we're not constituting some major threat to the health of our students. In fact, I would guess they're more likely to pick up a MRSA skin infection spreading around the school. That is not uncommon in schools in the area where I live. Surely we have to understand that we can't eliminate every slight risk of sickness or harm.
