I need help!!

Ok today I found out that my blood sugar is 123. My moms doc says its a little high, and she wants me to come back for blood work. My mom called my grandma (diabetic) about it. She says that her doc told her that 120 was normal. I don't know if this is a bad thing? I mean she isn't my doc. Should I be worried about this????????????????????<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

blood sugars will always fluctuate depending on when and what you've eaten. My sugar levels were in the 300's when they diagnosed me. 124 isn't bad at all.

Hey there Christina

A blood glucose reading of 124 is pretty much normal.

Normal is 80-120 for the average non diabetic.

I am thinking that you had a reading of 124 first thing in the morning - or as a fasting blood sugar. If that is the case it is a little high but I would not be overly concerned right now.

My doc has told me that they will test a person for diabetes if their fasting blood glucose is over 100 - meaning if your sugars are over 100 first thing in the AM.

I will say when I was diagnosed with diabetes I don't know what my fasting sugars were - but my average sugars were around 300 or so.

Just talk to the doc more and get tested - it won't hurt anything to get tested and in the event that you are diabetic (I'm not saying you are or aren't) it will be best to find out early rather than late <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">.
