Well, to start out if you don't know I have worked for the last 11 years as a manager for a couple large Japanese companies and my wife is a stay-at-home mom to our 8 kids.

Over the last few months we have been rethinking where we have ended up and how it compares to both of our dreams and passions. This was then 'assisted' by my learning last month that I would be unemployed early next year.

Therefore, we are taking a major leap of faith and I have quit my job effective this Friday.

Our new plans involve our moving several hours east of where we live, and both of us returning to school. If all goes as planned we will be moving around Christmas and we both begin classes in Jan.

Our intention is for me to apply to Medical School this August to start Fall '11 and Jo to follow me 2 years later. She wants to be a Pediatrician in an underserved area and after seeing their impact on families through both our medical-needs sons I have decided to become a Pediatric Anesthesiologist.

Not sure the purpose of this thread other than to give an update and ask you all for your thoughts as we make this move.

wow! Go for it! I can tell you from experience that study with a family is hard, especially if you have to work at all! Congratulations on following your passions, I am a strong believer in that...life is about living and being happy while we're at it (if we're fortunate enough).

Most people never get the chance to follow through with plans like yours...keep us updated, would love to hear how it all goes for you both <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Wow Tom, big step of faith for you. A fresh start is so exciting but so scary too. Good luck to you both as you begin your new journey.
