So he is getting what he deserved because some guys jumped on him and he had to defend himself? I think that's a pretty asinine thing to say. You don't know anything about what really happened just like we don't. And as far as the criminal justice system does, he should not be treated differently because he has CF, no (except I will agree with whoever said it's BS for him to get 17 years while rapists and child molesters get off on probation). But being in jail, and not getting the proper treatment for his CF is entirely a load of crap. First off, the doctor who said "what is cystic fibrosis anyway?" needs to be shot. If he's not getting a vest or physical therapy of any kind, that is wrong. And he should not go for any amount of days without enzymes. I don't care if you don't think he should be getting special treatment or not, but I don't think getting the medications he depends on is special treatment. Just because he's in prison does not mean he doesn't deserve to get the medications that keep him in the best health possible. And Kevin Hammash, unless you have CF, or have someone very close to you who has CF, keep your unintelligent opinions to yourself. Until you know what any of it feels like, I imagine most people here will dismiss your posts as quite useless. Kind of like you... quite useless.

To Kevin- I am sorry to hear that your brother was killed. Thats a horrible thing to have happen to anyone. But this is an entirely different situation. Would it have made you any happier if Josh didnt defend himself and let the guy choke him to death? I think thats a little ridiculous to think isnt it? When i was younger i used to carry a knife myself "just in case" and i thank God i didnt have any "just is case" situations. People with cf are usually smaller and get short of breath a LOT easier than most people and in a physical fight might not be able to keep up. In honesty if i were in Joshua's situation I would have definitely did the same exact thing, no questions asked. None of us were there and didnt see what happened, but if the guy was truely defending his life, he dont belong in jail in my eyes. By the way where is the guy who was choking him, is he in jail also? Do you truely see giving the guy life saving medicine as a special treatment? People are allowed to smoke in jail isnt that special treatment? I mean smoking isnt a life saving measure, so that must make it a luxury item, why is that allowed and not life saving medication? ~Diane

A 2 INCH POCKET KNIFE IS A NORMAL POCKET KNIFE TO CARRY IN YOUR POCKET. HOW MANY POEPLE DO YOU KNOW THAT CARRY POCKET KNIFES. JOSH WASN'T A GANG MEMBER EITHER. SO IM ASSUMING YOU THINK ITS ALRIGHT FOR A BLACK BELT TO ATTACK HIM TOO?JOSH DIDNT GET WHAT HE DESERVED HE WAS PROTECTING HIMSELF.I DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR BROTHERS CIRCUMSTANCE WAS, IM VERY SORRY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE ALOT OF HATE IN YOU,TO BE ABLE TO TELL ME JOSH DESERVED WHAT HE GOT,HE DIDNT KILL ANYONE!the guy that almost killed my son had double the blood alchol limit and dont remember what started the fight, he only remembers running and tackling Josh. Im very sorry ! Skyleen

To the person that posted above. That was kind of cold. I understand that you have some raw emotions involved about your brother getting killed, my brother was killed too a long time ago, but I was never as hard/pessimistic about it as you seem to be. I know somehow it was God's time for him to go & that somehow I would get thru it.And....Josh should get special medical treatment for his CF. Do you have CF? It's a disease you have to stay on top of, in jail or not.And if he was truly carrying a pocket knife, I see no harm in that, millions of men do. What would have happened to him had he not been carrying the knife? He would be just like your brother. I'm just glad that in jail when he had no place else to turn, that he found The Lord.

i have to agree with kevin a little here. although he got a VERY harsh sentence, it sure sounds like he wasnt some angel. i dont carry a pocket knife, my partner doesnt carry a pocket knife, in fact i dont know anyone who carries a pocket knife. he was drinking, hes troubled, and how can you just suddenly pop up in the middle of a fight without being a part of it? parents always think their kids are in the right, its natural. but still, he deserves proper medical treatment. why on earth wont they allow anything? i mean whats he going to do, jimmy open cell doors with a flutter? shesh. is there another prison he can go to? shame this didnt happen in australia. hed be out on parole within 6 months!

ok, point being, yes he did something wrong and deserves imprisonment or whatever the appropriate punishment....but he ALSO deserves the right to live and be healthy; denying someone with a medical condition their treatment is like denying "normal" prisoners food! thats not how the system should work!

Skyleen, My name is Kay. I emailed you personally yesterday. Okay, I do not believe your son was totally in the wrong. Anyway, please take my info I emailed you and make that call. She will be in tomorrow(Friday). Your son may have to do his time, but I feel that he should get his medical treatment. If your son dies in prison, they are going to have a huge lawsuit on their hands. It just sickens me to no end. I have been in this law office for almost two years and I think this is one of the worst stories I have heard. Your son is ill and they need to get a CF doc for him. Can I ask a question, did the other guy have to serve anytime?????? I will be praying for you and your family!!! Good luck.Kay 29 w/ocftwo siblings w/cf

Hello, Skyleen! They won't let us send stamps? Stupid prison! Oh, well, I suppose they have their reasons.... like because they are stupid! That's a reason, but not a good one. =-) I wanted to send extra stamps with my letter (I always hate it when I run out of stamps), but I guess I won't. =-( Oh, well. I'm sending a letter to him; I hope it brings a smile. =-) Jarod22 with CF
