My 1 year old (and three days <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ) does pt on dolls, too. She also pats us on the back or on the chest when we hold her. She only does this to people she really really likes (Or so we think) so I think she sees it as an expression of love. Lately, she's been patting herself on the chest when its almost time for a treatment. I'm not sure if she is just reading the routine, or if she can feel when she needs a treatment. Her big sister has been known to do pt on her baby dolls, too, and they also get enzymes everytime she feeds them. Several of them have had to sit through nebulizer treatments. Isabelle has also "reminded" bewildered non cf moms to give thier babies enzymes before feeding them. That's a little awkward, but sweet nonetheless!

Craigs cousin, who is 6 weeks older, pats his own chest if he sees craig getting his physio, he ussually runs over and stands next to Craig.
Craig also will pat the couch on occasion when having his physio, mostly its a struggle and a screaming match, so the 'patting the doll' gave me a big smile thanks

The comment about the daughter reminding parents to give kids their enzymes made me laugh and think of a little girl with CF I know. She is 4 and in preK. She has just started to realize in the past year that other kids don't take the same medicines that she does - if any medicines at all. Well all the kids have been intrigued by her medicines and the way she swallows them and what they are and everything. They ask questions and she says that they are enzymes ... and of course ... They CAN'T have any. Her mom was telling me that the preK teacher told her that they will need to send her to the clinic to take her meds because alot of the other kids want to take them lol. They keep asking her about them and if they can have one. I just thought that was too funny.

As for doing CPT on dolls and animals. I have always done and still do mini CPT on our dog and cats. I will cup my hand and just lightly pat them. Funny thing my cat loves it he just rolls around like you are petting him. The dog hates it, but she also hates when I get CPT. She will jump up and try to attack the person "beating" me. Then when we finally get her to lay down - after explaining they are not hurting me - then she lays there with this pitiful "I am sorry you are getting punished" look on her face. lol Priceless.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Thats so cute, its like at that young age they see chest pt as part of caring for a little kid-like a little girl will rock and nurse her baby doll. They do pt on it! Obviously you're doing a good job as a parent!

As danyell said. "As well as hooking my doll up to the IV machine". I always did that too. I would push a syringe of fake "medicine" into it. I used to wrap co-ban around an arm or a leg so it would be "broken". I played "hospital" alot since I had about 4 or 5 dolls. My favorite doll was my lee middletown baby doll so I would attend her alot. lol. I also had a few American girl dolls. My dad's girl friend always told me I had a good imagination.

Thank you all so much for sharing. I love hearing these stories. I love the little girl who told other parents they were forgetting the enzymes. That's just too cute!!
