When I first saw my OB/GYN about getting PG, she said "I think you will have difficulties due to thick cervical mucus. Come see me after six months of trying if you aren't pregnant." I then saw another OB/GYN and she said the same thing.

I have a friend with CF who has also been trying for six months, she just saw her OB/GYN, who said "you haven't been trying long enough" (to get help).

What did your doctor say? When did he/she say you should seek out "help"?

I can't answer for those with CF since I'm the mom of a CF patient. However, I have had infertility problems, and was never able to become pregnant, so we adopted our precious little boy. Our doctor had us try for a year and then said that was long enough. With us waiting a year, I would think that 6 months should be long enough for someone with CF who will most likely have trouble. I don't know how much this helps, but thought I'd throw it out there. I wish you and your friend lots of luck and will pray that you are both able to get pregnant and have very healthy pregnancies, and babies!

Sending lots of hugs your way!!!

At first, I was told that I probably wouldn't get pregnant. Then when I got a surprise and found out that I was pregnant, I was told to terminate the pregnancy by my CF doc, the OB that he had me see, and my transplant team. I may have had a little to do with the 40% FEV1, but I was determined and Brady will be 3 in 8 days!

Not that I was trying to get pregnant or not get pregnant, but without any help, it took me 6 years to become pregnant with Brady. He came at the most perfect time for me (not health wise but just in the nick of time).

I had already tried for 3 years before seeing my doctor. I was told to chart my cycle for 3 months (checking CM, temp, ovulation, cervix position, etc). I came back after 3 months of charting and was told to try for one more month then my OB would refer me to an RE.

I was told my problem was cervical mucous and an irregularly long cycle (35-38 days), which my RE said meant I wasn't ovulating.
