I think that six months is sort of the standard. We will be trying soon, and I got the same line that Kleigh did from her OB/GYN - that she has seen many women with CF get pregnant successfully.

However, since the rate of infertility is so high, I imagine it would be difficult to tease out whether many women with CF experience fertility problems that are related to CF or just independent.

My CF doctor and my ob/gyn did not provide a specific time frame for "trying". However when my husband and I were ready we sought out an Infertility specialist on our own. My cervical mucus was preventing me from conceiving and the infertility doctor recommened IUI. After 1 IUI I became pregnant. I am a happy mother of twins. Regardless of cf i think the timing of consulting an infertility specialist is your and your husbands decision. My fetility doctor did require a written letter of medical clearance from my cf doctor. Good luck!
