Ibuprofen?

Had a question for you older CFr's... My son's CF doc is planning on putting him on ibuprofen once he's 1 yr old. He says this helps treat inflammation in the lungs, but this practice isn't widely used. Have any of you had docs that agree with this vein of thinking and if you are taking it, do you feel you have benefited from the use of ibuprofen?

I don't know about the others but Austin has been on ibprofen therapy for about 2 years now. He is on 1600 mgs daily.

Before he started this he had to go to the hospital for blood draws before and after the med was given. This was to make sure they were giving him the right dosages.

I was told by his cf doc that studies have been done and that it benefits more with children from about 5-6 through puberty.

I am kind of surprised unless things have changed that they would put your baby on that at so young of age.

I was told it was to keep inflammation down in the lungs. I am assuming it is working for Austin. He is usually in for a tune-up once a year.
