I've been thinking about how I got through my CF in the teenage years. I had so many episodes, days, months, and years where I wanted to kill myself and if not directly do it, pursue that by not doing my treatments. The thing that kept me going was a show on ESPN called "Sportscentury." It tells stories of atheletes and coaches that pursued their dreams in spite of hardships. If it hadn't been for that I wouldn't have made it through the rough times. I love stories where people have nothing or some sort of disability and accomplish the impossible. Anyways, I have yet to see a book like that of CF. I was thinking of having a book with a bunch of stories of CFers. Have a mini-biography of their troubles with CF and a section that tells their proudest accomplishments in spite of CF. For instance I was told not to play sports when I was first diagnosed and was even discouraged by my parents because of my small frame. I was so malnourished from my pancrease not functioning properly. Yet, I play roller hockey and got so good that I made a team with a bunch of the team USA kids and a Team USA coach. You have to be really good to do that!I'm currently playing college roller hockey. There is even a kid that plays on the DU pioneers championship ice hockey team who has CF.
I was wondering if anyone even knew a publisher and how you would go about accomplishing something like that. Anyone's name or email would greatly be appreciated. You can even post a story if you'd like. Any idea no matter how small would greatly be appreciated. This book would be like the book about the medal of honor winners if any of you have seen that. If not look at it in a book store please!
Chat or email me if you'd prefer.
