Ideas for cf family vacation?

We also stay away from indoor pools. I think this is something I am going to ask the doc, because Erin likes to swim. Our indoor pool for the winter was also SO warm, I was a little weary. Good luck on the vacation choice! If you do go to an indoor waterpark, we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA last spring and absolutely LOVED it!! The food is too expensive & wasn't all that great, so I would bring drinks/sandwiches and stuff like that. We went when it first opened, so the food may have gotten better. Here is the link:

If you're going to go to a water park go to the biggest one in the nation.
Schlitterbahn.
It's awesome.
64 acres of outdoor waterpark.
It has uphill water rides, pools for playing in, and I believe most of the rides are ridden in filtered Comal river water, so it should be relatively clean.
It is a water park resort, which means you can actually stay there, they allow food and drinks in the park, the food itself isn't expensive.
Plus it has the master blaster, "the best water ride in the nation."

San Diego! A great spot for the whole family. There's Sea World, great beaches, the air craft carrier, downtown, etc...

I agree with the poster who suggested Vegas. If you do your research in advance, there are some fun things for the whole family - and southern Cali is only 3-1/2 hours away if you want to add to it.... there are some family friendly shows (try any of the Cirque ones!), amazing museums if you want culture, fabulous and reasonable food, and cheap fares. There are some things surrounding the city you'd want to check out also (Southern Utah is gorgeous!!!).

I agree with the post that San Antonio would be great. It has the Riverwalk and Alamo plus 4 other missions more impressive than the Alamo. I love going to Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. There is more than enough to do in San Antonio to fulfill a week and if you have a day that you just want to spend on shopping, San Marcos is one of the best outlet malls in the country and is only 40 minutes away. Natural Bridge caverns is also about an hour away.
I would suggest Nags Head NC....awesome place for kids!!!!!!!! I have gone there every year since I was a kid. We rent a cottage. Great things to do. 4X4 riding great family beaches, Jockeys Ridge, its a mini resort area!!! Also about 1~2hrs away is Manteo Aquarium & the other way same distance is Hatteras Island w/ a few things to do. Fishing is a BIG thing there also...Oregon Inlet...... Also I would reccomend....St. Augstine FL, very historic....I think its the oldest city in FL!! They have the real battle ground area. Hope this helps!!! Have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

We love the Nags Head/ Hatteras area too. Great beaches and not too crowded. You can also take a ferry over to Ocracoke Island which is great. We went last year and we rented the same house for this year too. Pretty inexpensive if you go before or after the actual "summer" season.

i would agree with san antonio. its the most bang for your buck. you have all the historic missions like the Alamo and San Jacinto. Sea world and Feista Texas are right there close if you want theme parks. they have a Zoo if you like that. Several malls are in the area. The institute of texan culture, right there by the tower of americas. go to the river walk or a play at the majestic theater. the largest waterpark in texas Schlitterbahn is right there in newbraunfels. and as was mentioned its fed by the comal river wich comes out of the ground about two miles up from the water park, so the river there is pretty clean. or you can go tubing down the guadalupe river ther in newbraunfels. and stop in gruene and eat at the grist mill and see a live band at the oldest dancehall in texas, Gruene hall. go to natural bridge caverns and the wildlife ranch next to it. there are about four other caves in the area too if thats what you like. only about an hour a nd a half away is austin, the state capitol. tour the capitol building, which btw is the only capitol building taller than the one in washington. and austin has put a city wide no smoking policy into effect. another good thing about San Antonio is that they have one of the best childrens hospitals there. Santa Rosa Childrens Hospital. which has a CF clinic in it. so that just in case something does happen, its there. the RT at the clinic is the nicest woman in the world just ask anyone who has seen her.
but i would have to say that for a cheap vacation with lots of attractions close by. sanantonio is the most bang for your buck.

If you really looking to not only get away but feel better while you're gone go somewhere where there is plenty of fresh sea air. Every year since 1970 my family goes to one of these places in Florida either in June, July or August.
Port St. Joe, Seaside, Seagrove or Greyton Beach. The sun is great you can get a great tan and the salt air will not only help you breath better but clear out you sinuses as well. Great places to go, especially if you have CF.

How about a cruise? Just went on one myself. Tons of food 24 hours a day, buffets all day and night, lots of high calorie stuff sure to pack on some pounds. Tons of sun for some Vit D. etc etc. As a personal choice I do stay out of the pools and hot tubs on the cruise though but hit the beaches on the stops.
