If you had a CVS done....

The whole thing from prep to finish took 30 minutes both times I had it done. I found the abdominal procedure to be almost painless and the cervix was horrible for me though most people find it almost painless too I think. I have a super sensitive cervix I guess.
You should wear old, comfortable clothes and bring baby wipes or something to clean the betadine off yourself with. You'll have to drink water once you are there, before the procedure. Don't drink too much because you need to last for 30 minutes! If you feel over full before you get on the table ask if they can look with the ultrasound to see if you can pee out a little bit. I did that the second time and it helped tremendously. Most of the discomfort of the procedure is a full bladder.
The doctor will use ultrasound to see where to go and the actual procedure takes 10 minutes. Once you are done you can go pee, check yourself for betadine on your back (it runs all over) and get dressed. You'll probably feel sore and may have stabbing pains in the area it was done but it isn't bad at all.
Take it easy and stay on the couch if you can for the first day or two after it. The pain subsided for me after 5 days both times. No lifting more than 10 lbs for 2 weeks and no baths or exercise as far as I know.

thanks! I was going to ask if you had it done vaginally or abdominally. I'm pretty sure where I'm going to go they do it through the abdomen.

Sorry, Melissa - I'm used to faster moving boards

wow! I didn't realize the activity restrictions! That's going to be SUPER hard with a 1 year old that wants to be carried everywhere!

They have to do it vaginally if they can't reach it abdominally, depends on where the pregnancy is. Hopefully you get it abdominally.

Forgot if I mentioned that you'll get a call a day or two later with the downs syndrome/trisomy results and the gender if you want to know. The CF results take about 2 weeks.

I know how it is, my daughter Amelia is 1 as well.
