HEY GUYS,
I am a 24 y/o w/o cf, but my little brother 18 w/ cf and sister 15 w/cf & cfrd and she is currently in the hospital for a tune up and undergoing different tests because she is having these episodes where she goes completely numb from head to toe, and blood just pours out of her. I am here for any of you whom need a big sister type to listen or whatever, believe me I see first hand the amount of crap that you guys go through everyday and I wish that I could take my little brother and sisters place and they could be healthy. Also, if any of you have had anything like this happen to you or have heard of it please let me know... her doctors a baffled.

Wow that's totally wacked out Sara, I'm sorry I wish I could help. I would suggest you go to the Adult forum and ask them if they have heard of anything like that, there are a lot of CFers there who have been through just about anything you can imagine.

It's so good to see an older sibling standing up for her younger siblings with CF. My older brother w/o CF just kinda checked out while I was growing up. I think it was too much for him to handle. Kudos to you.

Sara, that sounds so scary! What medicines is she on? Zyvox (linezolid) can cause neuropathy in some people. My boys lost feeling in thier feet. The blood thing is a whole other story though. I hope they find something soon.

she was on cipro, ursidol, tobi and regular breathing meds with insulin for her diabetes, i looked them all up and the cipro is the only one that returned anything sometimes causes free bleeding and seizures. but she is doing a test right now to see where the blood is coming from and the doc said that if it is coming from the veins in her lungs its possible that it is causing pressure on the ones that go to the brain and that is what is causing everything.

Wow, that is really terrible! I hope the doctors find out whats going on. I wish I could give advise on the subject, or at least know something about it. I can't imagine what you're all going through. I have cf, but just a mild case of it. Good luck with everything, and i'll be thinking of her. Tell us if the doctors come up with anything!

yeah they figured out what it was at least we hope, she had an angiogram where they put a catheter up your artery and they can go into your heart and stuff, well they went into her lungs and found 2 bulging arteries which were causing her to bleed a lot and they fixed that. we are hoping that it was what was causing the numbness spells too.. she is supposed to blow tomorrow and hopefully be out by wednesday from her tune up.

thanks for the continued support. ill have to get her to come here when she is able to get to a computer.
