I dont have any real input on "how" to make things easier. I think in general to do things the legal way has become more daunting then usual since 9/11.
I do agree with Emily about making sure you know what you are doing before leaving your Socialized Medical coverage.
In the US there is terrific coverage, but not everyone is fortunate enough to get this &/or keep it. Much depends on employment &/or ability to pay for insurance yourself in addition to pre existing waiting periods etc.
Many people (too many for such a "powerful" country) are uninsured or underinsured!
BUT in the meantime.....welcome to this board & just remember to take the good responses with the bad!

It can be expensive but it's cheaper than paying out of pocket. There are plenty of well qualified drs and more than enough medications its just a matter of having insurance or the $$$ to get it things like pulmozyme cost over $1000 for a months supply without insurance. There is also SSI/disability, a government run organization that gives money to people who can't work because of whatever reason and there is medicaid, both can be hard to get. The health care industry in the US is very contriversial as well as illegal immigration and how hard it can be to come here legally and that is probably why you got so many negative responses. take them with a grain of salt
