I'm Pre Transplant

Hey Josh, I can understand your questions as i too in past had a trillion of them but it was along time ago and not many people around to ask. I was blessed to receive my two new lungs and a heart back in 1988. Back then they only did the lungs with the heart because it was too complicated to separate them, go figure. Medicine has come light years since then and i am sure it will continue. I won't drag this all down with the details but i encourage you to press on with the transplant. I will be honest and tell you it is not only worth, after getting it life starts over again. As far as problems afterwards, pretty much guaranteed but here is the difference, many years of living! I have encountered more problems than i ever imagined and a lot of suffering but wouldn't change a thing if I had to go back again to those days. I am now about to turn 50 and i am so blessed with health and i love my life. I give all my thanks to Jesus and with that i know God gave us doctors so here i am. Please don't be afraid to go for it! For me regarding CF, if i didn't get the H/L transplant i would have been finished back at 28 years old. Let me know if you have any question, Steve

I had double lung and liver tranpslant on January 31, 2007 and although there was a lot of pain and a lot of pills at first, it has improved my quality of life so much that I'm doing things that I never thought I would do. I travelled in a hot air balloon only months after the transplants...not something I think I could have done before.

It's really simple for me, people have asked me if I would do it all over again if I had to and my answer to them is always "definitely!!!"

Hey Josh, If you haven't tried them out already. Go to the transplant support group meetings at Stanford! They are a super wonderful group of people! They were our life line while waiting for transplant. They'll give it to you straight and not sugar coat anything. You'll be amazed at the stories and the people you'll meet there. You don't have to be listed or have received already, you can go even if you are still just thinking about it and if you are still waiting to here whether you'll be listed.

Anna got her tx at Stanford. She'd tell you yes, it is worth it.

Hey, Im Anna. I can tell you that I had some pain after transplant sometimes so bad that I wondered if I made the right choice, I did. Im going through a tough time right now but considering everything I am still very glad i did it. It was worth it, even after having to change things in my life because of the transplant it was worth it all and I would do it again in a flash! And Stanford is AMAZING! I LOVE them!
