I'm stupid for trying a cigarrette

So I was with my cousin and his friend and they were smoking so I figured I tried one.i kinda liked it so I had a few more. The next day my cousin and I got our own pack. Now, I believe I am addicted. I am so incredibly stupid for trying it. I can go hours without one, but within 4 hrs I crave another. I'm 19 yrs old. My lungs are very healthy and I wanna stop now before it gets extremely bad.

ive gone through withdrawal with other drugs which was way worse (Paxil) so I know I can do this. But what I want to know, is when I feel the urge, can I take a xanax instead?

i am prescribed xanax for anxiety so it is legal. The reason why I decided to try one is because I smoke pot and I didn't think it would be all too bad if I tried a few. I am a legal marijuana user btw. I am going through the process through the state and my dr has given me an affidavit protecting me so I can use it. So everything I'm doin is 100% legal and not illegal.

when I get the money I do plan on either vaporizing the marijuana do there is no smoke making it healthy (no combustion of the plant material), but that's when I have the money (costs a total of $200).

My my dad obviously knows about the marijuana thing as he is my caregiver, but I know they would be furious if they found out about this. I realize how completely stupid this was. To be honest, I felt cool holding a cigarette, and that's what helped drive me. I've gone through about 2 packs in my whole life and I want to stop now while I'm "ahead".

I've been taking xanax for about a year now, it's a drug I feel very comfortable with and I am not addicted to it. There has been times I had taken for a week straight and I didn't get addicted, so while I'm battling this stupid cigarrete addiction can I take my xanax whenever I feel anxious and stuff from not smoking?

I know smoking marijuana isn't that great, but it's also not too unhealthy, I notice it acts as a natural bronchodilator.

Why would you risk your healthy lungs and smoke. I think there will be a few people who are struggling with their lung function who will be a little upset that you or anyone with cf who are fortunate enough to be so healthy, would risk it over something so stupid. Many on here wish they were as fortunate as you are to be relatively healthy.

don't blame it on peer pressure. You are 19, peer pressure is over. You should just quit now, while you can without it being a big deal. It will be a lit easier now than later.

Eventually we all have to grow up and start making the right decisions. You seem to know what the right thing to do is and you have to respect yourself enough to do them.

You're right, that WAS an incredibly dumb thing to do.
I think your cigarette addiction is mostly a mental thing. I really doubt you could become physically addicted to nicotine after just one or two cigs.
As for pot, I asked my CF doc about it. He said he didn't think it was a bad idea unless I smoked it or used a vaporizer.
As a "CF'er" its never a good thing to introduce any foreign substance to your lungs.
Yes, you need to quit & quit NOW!
I've already had to undergo a double lung trans. It has been incredibly painful.
Please, take my advice & keep the lungs you have for as long as you can.
Instead of smoking, why not put on some running shoes & go for a run when you feel like a cig?
Running is good if you can do it. I did when I was younger & maybe that's why my lungs lasted as long as they did. I never had any real lung problems until my mid/late 30's.
Please, stop the smoking of both pot & cigs. If you must have pot, eat some brownies or cookies. You get the same effect with no damage to your already compromised health.
Take care, 'Pat'.
