My doc just sent this to me. I don't know where he got it from, but I trust him (Amy, this is the awesome doc I always rave about).

Emily,

The FDA is investigating whether the premixed colistin that
is made for the eflow could cause some problems.
A woman with CF who was taking it developed a sudden illness and died.
There is a theoretical possibility that the
premixed medication could degrade into a toxic compound that could make
people sick. It has never been shown that
this actually happens with the premixed solution, but the FDA would like
to investigate the issue to be sure this is a safe
use of the medicine. This type of issue has not happened previously
with the hundreds of people prescribed this medication, but
the CF foundation is recommending that no one use this formulation until
the matter has been settled.

Let me know if you have any questions.

John

I sent him an email back asking if he wanted me to stop using the pre-mixed Colistin, as he didn't appear to expressly tell me to stop using it. I also asked what sudden illness the CF woman developed, and if it was possible she didn't refrigerate the Colistin properly and that's why she got sick. I'll add his answer when he emails me back.

Like I said, I don't know exactly where this came from, but as I trust John, I figured I should pass along the information to you guys.

You might want to change your title.

Colistin can come pre-mixed with or without use for the eFlow.

This article really has nothing to do with the eFlow...
