In the Name of Religion

Last night I was watching the news show "Hannity & Colmes" on Fox News. They had one of the woman who protested at the funeral of some of the U.S. soliders. Evidentally her church was thinking of protesting at the funeral of the Amish girls who were brutally murdered in Lancaster, PA. When asked why she would want to ADD to the pain & devistation that these innocent people are already experiencing she said that she wouldnt be add or taking away fromt their pain. She actually said that the girls deserved it along with the families & the authorities, governor & the US administration because they arent following GODS law. Because they werent doing the right thing in her eyes that allowed this mad man to enter their world & execute these children.i I am by no means a religious expert, but I dont think you can get much closer to God then the Amish. One of the reasons they live without modern day conveniences is to not get pulled away from God. The "outside" influences that often cause problems in peoples lives or interfere with their connection to God isnt there. Sean Hannity questioned this also. He asked her if anyone OUTSIDE of her church were sinners. Basically anyone that doesnt go to her church & think exactly how they do are sinners because it is not being done to THEIR expectations is what he was thinking. This woman didnt exactly answer this. Sadly she definitely seemed to represent the image of the extremests (and we worry about the Muslims) and the reason that many people (such as I) get a bad taste in their mouth about religion. Did anyone else see this interview? I was amazes, appalled & speechless.

That burns me up! I didn't see the interview, but I know who they are, they're some baptist church that likes to cause trouble, and they make me sick.

The whole thing is sad and sickening. I live 1 hour away from the amish schoolhouse. These sex offenders are beyond help. They are sick - really, really sick. I think they should all be in an institution. Let them play with each other.

As far as the interview, I missed that - thank gosh. It would fire me up way too much.

my friend was killed in iraq. his funeral was so tough for everyone... i can't imagine how awful it would have been if there would have been protestors there... it makes me sick to think about it

In defense of Christians every where--we do not agree with Fred Phelps' cult and we think it's just as proposterous as you all do.
They wanted to protest the Amish funeral because of some comments the Penn. Gov. made months ago about their group demonstrating at military funerals. They think this shooting happened as a result of his comments, kind of a payment from God kind of thing to the state of Penn. Totally ridiculous.
The Westboro church is led by Phelps and is mostly comprised of his family members.

That is what I am saying.....its gives all Christians a bad name so to speak. Hopefully most people should realize that their beliefs are just that....their beliefs!

I think that there are wackos in any generalized group of people name. I think most Christians find what this group does just as horrifying as you find it.
