Infant PFT

Tyler had the infant PFT done yesterday and he did great! His lung function was in the 130's! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Well my question is for those who's child has had this done before how were they afterwards...like the next day? Tyler has been alittle cranky and VERY sleepy. Maybe its the stuff they had to give him for the test to make him drowsy? We had to keep him up late the night before and got him up early for the test the next day. Just wondering how long it takes them to get back to normal?

I didnt even know they did PFT on babies. What made your doctor want one done? Our doctor has not said anything about this to us.

My daughter had one done when she was about 14 months old and she was pretty sleepy for a couple of days. They gave her chloral hydrate. I assume they gave this as well? She was hilarious right before she went to sleep. lol She was acting like a drunken monkey. I am sure your son will be back to normal very soon.

They did this on my daughter because she was in the Infant Study of Hypertonic Saline. or the ISIS trial. Some clinics are starting to do this routinely to establish a baseline lung function. However, some sites are not equipped to do these because of the specific technique and equipment needed to perform them.
