"pick up an infant cough medicine"

We are told to NEVER give Marissa cough medicine on our own. That if her cough is so bothersome that it keeps her from getting rest, then we need to call them. Usually if it is that bad, they will give her an antibiotic, and allow her to take something at night to help her sleep for a few days, but not for long. You want a CF child to cough.

If she has a cough and a temperature, she is always put on an antibiotic.

Since research shows that zinc lozenges help fight a cold at the onset, I was wondering whether you can give infants zinc.

I found this article citing Johns Hopkins Medical Center that conducted a study with infants that showed that zinc boosted the immune systems of babies quite significantly. Maybe you can ask your doctor whether this is appropriate for your baby to help him fight a cold.

Do you just do nebs or do you also do CPT? If you're not doing so, you should probably being doing so to "beat that cough out of him". And sometimes they do need abx because they can't cough out that stuff and it stagnates, causing an infection.
