Thank you for the answers! I can't get a straight answer from his CF doctor. He;s an older guy and everything (to him) can be a problem for our babys health. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

My CF doctor specifically told me no birs growing up, but he may have been a little stricter on this than some. Even this past year when I got an infection while visiting my parents and had to re-visit my pediatric doctor, I said something about my dog and he said "dogs are fine, birds are NOT." Not sure why he mentioned birds since I have never had one nor talked about having one, but he brings it up every chance he gets so he must feel strongly on it, for what that's worth.

my mom is a vet and said that birds are so bad for people with breathing issues because of all the respiratory infections/diseases they carry and some can be passed to humans. i would be so cautious if you have birds as pets and i can't imagine that having a bird in a CFers room would be good....i had dogs growing up as well as a series of mice, then hamsters, then guinea pigs none of which were allowed to be kept in my room and their cages were cleaned at least 1 time a week. i'm allergic to cats so we never could have those but they shed so much anyway....
