After reading some of the info it looks like the drug from Discovery Labs called KL4 Surfactant. Now we just need to get the drug here in the US.

It says that so far they only tested it in vitro and in animals. If they haven't even started phase 1 trials, it means it is a long way to go before it is approved, if it does not fail in any stages (which i hope it doesn't).

There is no 'finished' drug to get yet over here in the US. This is still something in very very early development.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Scheduled for administration by inhalation, the hypothiocyanite / Lactoferrin (Meveol), based on recent discoveries that highlight a failure of primary immune system in patients with cystic fibrosis. Product Meveol aims to compensate for this by giving directly to the lungs natural antimicrobial molecules that are not produced because of the disease.</end quote></div> I hope that this is a promising new treatment, we certainly need them. According to earlier in the article, it's aim is to be successful against bugs such as PA, MRSA and b. cepacia. However, the way they describe the med will work here sounds a little vague to me. I wish there were more details.

Upon more research... it has been granted Orphan status by the FDA in the US as well. However, it's important to note that it's still in PRE-clinical trial development. There is reason for optimism for every new approach but it's not something on the verge of becoming available.
