I am no professional but I think early childhood is at a better age to try it... you have quite a few years before her system will be challenged by the enormous changes of puberty to see if she can maintain her growth curve on her own. Babyhood/toddlerhood kids grow SO much proportionately speaking and then do so AGAIN during adolescence. Kids consistently grow and gain during middle childhood but not at the tremendous rate seen earlier and later.

eta> I hope Alyssa's gain picks up!! Every kid goes through ups and downs there so hopefully she is just in a 'natural' downturn and will pick up again on her own. Emily's height has been creeping up very consistently, but the weight jumps, levels, jumps, levels- ever increasing but not in precise intervals.

Thanks for the replies. I just had a thought. Owen had thrown up so many foods before he went on Creon. We haven't given him dairy or soy for two years. Maybe we will try to add that back in first? He is still pretty small even though he has gained nicely since being on Creon. Not that this really matter but he is at least a clothes size behind still. He is back to the 20% for height and 30% for weight which is up from 6 and 9 just six months ago. So we are happy but I would still like to get him a wider range of foods before we wean. Just thinking out loud... Thanks!

Yeah, it makes sense to me to try and introduce a wider range of foods first since that will definitely increase odds of being able to maintain weight. Those foods offer so many high fat/high calorie options to help keep weight up and I'm not surprised he wasn't able to tolerate them before starting Creon due to the high fat (and relatively high protein) content. I hope it goes well!!
