Initial Transplant evaluation

I have nothing new to add about the whole process itself, so I'll stick to the weight thing. When i was first evaluated and listed i weighed 92 pounds. I was doing tube feeds and eating and kept losing weight. this was definitely a concern for my doctors but they never took me off of the active list. I kept doing my tube feeds and despite that continued to lose weight. I am 4'11" and at the time of my tx weighed 77 pounds. By the time i was released from the hospital i was only 72 pounds. So, yes weight is a concern, but i'm prove that a transplant can be a success even when the weight isn't there.

The week I was in the hospital, my appetite was crazy. I never did a tube feed again once i woke up from tx and my all time highest weight post tx was 103. I just got over a cold and now weigh 92 pounds, but my ideal weight is 98.

Don't stress too much about the weight. Do what you can to stay at a healthy weight and try to gain some. But it can be done at a low weight.
