Sounds like a doc I had in San Antonio. She was definitely wonderful *sarcasm*

Got fed up with her and her continual bs (talked over my head, treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about, wouldn't listen when I told her how I felt, etc) when we 'discussed' me getting a port and agreed that we would put it off for a month since I wasn't feeling great mentally or physically. A few days after that 'discussion,' which was apparently me talking and her not listening, my grandmother called me and told me that they had scheduled a port placement surgery in a few days. Went through with the surgery cause I did need it but basically told her to go take a flying leap and found a new doc. Everybody in the hospital disliked her so it made it easier; but I was just doing worse with the stress she caused than what I could have been. She either quit or moved to a new practice a few months after that because of her attitude.

If you're not happy with your doc don't put up with it. Stress can affect your immune system, and if you're getting a lot of it when you're going for a clinic checkup you're not going to be preforming at your best which is just an excuse for the doc to put you in the hosp. I wouldn't worry about being tacked as a problem patient, if you're having these problems with your doc chances are you aren't the only one that feels that way. I'd let your nurse know that you're unhappy and you're thinking about changing just to get a feel for what she thinks and she might even give you some insight on what other patients have done that are in your situation. Hope it works out for you.

At the local CF clinic we had a doctor like that -- I'd be so proud about how well ds was healthwise and it seemed as if everything we did was wrong. He once told me DS' nose was "probably" full of polyps. He was 2 years old and had a headcold. So far at 4 1/2 no signs of polyps. Constantly critical, but offers no advice for improvements. And once I asked about a test his primary CF doctor in the City suggested to test for initial signs of liver damage -- think it was called a Factor 2 test. The last straw was when the doctor mimicked me -- repeated what I said in "babytalk" and sarcastically said "why would you want THAT".

Tired of paying money for waiting hours in a waiting room/exam room and then to pay for verbal abuse. We now just see DS' primary peds doctor, though we're looking for a different one. And we see his CF doctor in the CIty a few times a year.
