I'm wondering if there is anyone who lives in pa that knows about this? From what i understand, if a child is born with a disability in this state, than they are provided with health coverage for life? A guy i work with has a son who's a hemophiliac (sp?) and i know of another guy, whose son has fragile x syndrome nad he's also covered.....that guy makes WAAAAY more than any federal minimum, so i guess it's some kind of state run program? anyone know anything about it?

I may be wrong but we live in PA and there is no program that covers anyone for life. There are programs that the state runs, but that depends on income. There is access which is federal and that is for disabilities, although it is much easier to get than a disability benifit. There is a type of program ( like NJ ) for low or no cost insurance but again you must qualify with income restrictions.
Generally any coverage a child gets will run out after the education ends and they have to re- qualify under any income they have or under disability. Hope this helps. If you find a program let us other PA's know. This is a problem for many of us .

my daughter has secondary insurance thru the State of PA.
you need to apply thru your county welfare office for Medical Benefits only.
I was turned on to it by the Social Worker at the CF Clinic.
only secondary insurance mind you, so it covers only copays and coinsurance.
coordinating the 2 insurances can be a headache too, but worth it because of the $$$.
