Insurance Questions

I live in California and we have CalPers (state employee) insurance plan. We currently have a Blue Cross PPO plan but we have been hit so hard finacially the last few years with deductibles, co-pays, med's, etc. that it is averaging around $700/month extra. We do get to use some medical expense deductions on taxes but that's only expenses after we reach 7% of gross income. My question is...do any of you have the Blue Shield HMO or EPO (offered in only a few select Counties in CA, just like a HMO plan but you select doctors from the PPO plan). I am also concerned becuase the Pulmonologist takes all the insurance plans, but the hospital (where he sees admitted patients) and the CF Center do not except the CalPers HMO or EPO plans for Blue Shield. This month is open enrollment so I am trying to get the details worked out before the end of the month. I just don't want next year to be as much of a struggle.

Thank you,
Jana
