Intercourse Coughing and CF?

Ok for some reason it won't let me login. But this is Gabby if anyone remembers me. Ok my Question is. I hope I'm not the only that does this. But when having intercourse I have to cough and sometimes I start to cough so bad that we have to start and I fell like I have let my husband down. I mean I know that he understands and everything. If you or your partner has had this happen to them I would like to know I'm not the only one with CF that this happens to. You might think this is funny but, I told my mother about what happens and she told me to SLOW down. I just laughed at her and said we can do it slow and it still happens. I doctor told my to not do it laying down. It doesn't mater how I still cough. It's not everytime but it's still to often for me.

I have that problem sometimes. But for me, more often than not, my coughing fit doesn't come until after. Basically once we're done, and my breathing and pulse has gone through the roof, that's when I start hacking. So at least we're done by that point. It's gotten to the point, though, where that happens almost every time. Luckily like I said though, for me, it doesn't happen until after we're done.

I would recommend using a quick acting bronchodilator before the romance begins. Maybe leave an MDI in your bathroom so you can use it during your pre-game ritual (whatever it is you girls do in the bathroom before the "fun" begins). That way it will not "ruin" the moment and spontaneity is alive. Good Luck, hope the med idea works.....

Some positions work better for me if I feel like I'm going to cough. "Doggy-style" is good, and if my partner and I are facing eachother, both sitting up, that works good too.

I dont usually cough until afterwards when my "nerves" have calmed down. If I am congested or know that I am going to cough more than usual I try to get in some of sitting position whether it be completely upright or just leaning on my arm so I am at an angle instead of completely flat.

It takes the spontanious out of it and can be a pain, but do a good breathing treatment and vest (or manual cpt) before hand. If that doesnt work (or makes coughing worse), take some Robitussin but dont make a habit out of taken cough med since it is a suppressant. Try a good, vigarous treatment first.
