Thanks so much Stacey at first I would have thought that to with IRT elevated but her sweat test results were a thirty one and a thirty five...if steve is correct I wouldn't think that both would come back over thirty and it be a fluke and on top of which I didn't expect that it would be that high in a newborn who they said they might not even be able to get enough sweat out of. My husband is of the mind that he won't think about or discuss anything until we know my feeling is that that is more foolish and ignorance will cause more trouble but maybe I am the abnormal one. I don't want her to be sick I don't mean it in that way. I hope we get some answers on tuesday of the coming week. I feel good about what I've done to get info about this and the process's involved despite the opinions of others. I am sorry it took so long with your son, but I am so happy it sounds as if he is doing well now. I will keep you posted all of you.

You cannot worry about what others think. Your child cannot ask for the testing. You are your childs only advocate. If I'd had the internet when Jordan was born, he'd have been diagnosed sooner - no matter what my family or doctors said. I new it was more than colic, and if I'd had this community to educate me and encourage me, I'd have pushed so much harder.

If it turns out that your child doesn't have CF, then wonderful, but if it is CF, treatment needs to be started immediately.

Even if your child doesn't have CF she DOES have digestive issues that are affecting her growth. This is an important time in terms of nutrition and how it affects growth and BRAIN development. What happens now in her development can have LONG range consequences, so you need to be assertive and not worry about what other people think. Speak up during appointments, have a list of everything you're concered about and have those items addressed at the appointment. An appointment that you are spending money on, you are PAYING for those answers.

I thought you mentioned another child. If so, did you go thru something similar with that child or are these completely different symptoms?

Our older daughter did have some issues gaining weight but is fine now I pushed that issue when she went down to fifth perc for weight. this is no longer an issue for her. She is now 20 months and a whopping 25 lbs at last check up from 22 back in april. No digestive issues though or allergies. No signs of any kind of lung or sinus issues either... one urinary tract infection, one year infection. Pretty much other than those couple of things just a couple drippy noses and two stomach virus's is all. Nothing really out of the ordinary. So yes I'd say most of what we have going on with little Audrey are new symptoms. MLAG
