Irregular heartbeat

I had a heartbeat problem while on Levaquin or Cipro. They did an EKG which did have an abnormality--something about a long or short QT. Since then I've had a normal EKG, so we assume it was from the antibiotic. However, I've also taken both of those antibiotic many other times without heartbeat issues--just a flood of other side effects!

magnesium magnesium magnesium, did i mention magnesium??<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

The antibiotics we take (especially cipro and tobra) deplete magnesium from our bodies, but docs will never suggest this as they refuse to discuss vitamin levels as a cause more often than not. Plus, if they test your blood for magnesium, it can often show normal levels, BUT your tissue can still be severely depleted.

Side effects of magnesium depletion - irregular heartbeat and palpitations. Whenever you do a course of orals or IV's, you should take lots of magnesium, or whenever you start getting these palpitations. Always works for me. I've just finished IV Tobra and Ceft and last night, for the first time in ages, i got a ten minute attack of what i call 'a butterfly in my chest', when my heartbeat goes out of normal rythym and beats too fast for a while. It reminded me to take my magnesium!!!!
