Is constipation a symptom of CF?

My grandson is almost 8 months old, and was diagnosed with CF through newborn screening, then genetic testing. He has had no symptoms so far, is pancreatic sufficient, and had a 24 score on his sweat test months ago. He has been very healthy through the winter so far, even with a 3 year old brother who has many playmates sharing colds and coughs. Right now he is very constipated--his pediatrician recommended glycerin suppositories, and is not very concerned at this point. My daughter read that CF can be a cause of constipation--has anyone found that this is a symptom? I know many have diarrhea, but constipation? He has never been on any CF meds, no meds of any kind. He is kind of fat and loves to eat, generally very healthy.

A friend of mine's daughter has constipation issues and has been on miralax since her diagnosis. DS had issues with constipation when he was a baby -- started at about 4 months and his doctor had us use milk of magnesia from time to time. Might be a good idea to see if their cf clinic has a gi specialist who could suggest something other than suppositories.

Wow, no meds...sounds like he is doing great! Is he being seen at a CF clinic?
We were prescribed miralax, but never ended up having to use it. We had a blockage at birth, other than that mostly loose stools. But I don't think it is uncommon.
Good luck, hope he continues to do so well!

my daughter is also PS but often has constipation. I give her organic papaya, spinach and usually it is enough.
