Is constipation a symptom of CF?

Yes, it can be a symptom. My daughter is also pancreatic sufficient (but her numbers are borderline so we do give her enzymes) and we have had bouts of constipation, particularly after being on certain meds (anesthesia or pain meds).

Constipation was one of my nephew's (with cf) biggest problems when he was younger. A pediatric GI dr at the CF clinic is the one to consult about constipation problems. Pediatricians are not as familiar with cf issues.
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 8 and Jack, 6 both with cf, Grant, 11 months no cf, nephew, Joseph, 12 with cf

I was also going to ask if he is seen at a CF clinic. If so, I would call them rather than your ped. As one of the previous posts said, peds don't know too much about CF. My daughter is pancreatic insufficient and she only had loose stools. She does not have any lung disease at this point but still goes the the CF clinic every 3 months, has regular throat cultures and does her vest daily.
