I too get that at times. I've had to grab ahold of something or someone!!! I guess we get coughing so hard sometimes that enough air doesn't get to our brains!

When its a constant (unable to take air in at all) or really deep cough yes. Makes sense. You need O2 flowing & if its cut off for a bit (even a few seconds) it will have an affect. I would think also that the blood flow slows up also. Just makes sense to me. Cant say that for sure tho!

Yep, I've had that happen many times. Afterwards I feel like I'm high...it sucks. As far as I know, there's not much that can be done about it. If I start coughing like that, I'm make sure to sit down somewhere so I don't fall over!

I've had them in the past few years, but before that it was rare for me. I've even had a few cases in which it actually happened while I was driving...I just slowed down a little in speed and kept what blurry vision I had on the road til I got it back!

Fortunately, this topic was mentioned about a year ago, and I kept it in mind while driving!

I think it's the muscles used for the cough that rushed too much blood to the brain, giving it a 'rush'! Either that, or the opposite, as Melissa suggested, the blood is cut off for a few seconds to the brain, causing a temporary lack of oxygen.

There have been a few cases in which I've seen shooting stars!!!
