Is it time for a clean out?

I've read a lot on here in the last several days about getting cleaned out, or a tune up. As a parent that hasn't been there yet, how do I know when my daughter needs to go to the hospital?

On June 4, 2009, Bek was put on Bactrim. I called her CF doc to let them know that she still had a nasty cough and was running a higher temp again (102.1). The next day, June 16, 2009, she was put on Zyvox. This antibiotic has helped fairly quickly the last 2 times she had MRSA, but no so much this time. She still has a pretty bad cough at times during the day, and I'm wondering if it's time to talk to the doc about cleaning out.

Her next appointment is next Friday, July 3rd, so any input or info before then would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for every thing.

Robin,
Hi! If she isn't having difficulty breathing, I would be one to wait until the appt. since it is this coming week. Especially since she is on Zyvox.....that stuff is like liquid gold.

Take care,

Is Your daughter still on Zyvox or is the course done? When my daughter is on Zyvox, I treat her care like a "home cleanout" . Increase VEST time, as well as add in additional albuterol nebs. Usually by the end of the course of Zyvox her cough is decreased significantly. I think twice she needed an extra week or two of zyvox before things totally cleared because I called cause she wasn't back to her baseline. So If you have concerns It doesn't hurt to check in with your daughter's doc; especially since your appointment is so close to the 4th of July(Usually a hard time to get in touch with docs on a holiday weekend). Jada, it's so true Zyvox IS liquid gold; I'm so grateful for it; otherwise Maggie would need to be hospitalized so much more often

She got the prescription for a 2 week regimine, so she is still on it. I already do extra breathing treatments and vest treatments all through the week, every week, since I found out that her dad hasn't been doing any nebs or vest times when he has her every other weekend. I found that out Dec, 2006. He has been to several of her appointments when they praised us for doing such a good job, however, he doesn't realize that I know. He also gives her nothing but kool-aid and pop to drink when he has been told they should be kept for special occasions. I haven't said anything to him since I am going to be taking him to court to gain total custody for her health reasons. I do have a home health nurse that can testify to the missed treatments as well.

I was just wondering that since this is the 3rd time with MRSA, and she has been running a daily temp (99.5 - 101.5 usually) since last July (after spending 1st half of summer with her dad and coming home with double lower lobe pneumonia), if it is something that I should be talking to the doc about.

Sorry if I'm rambling on, but it's frustrating not knowing, and having to deal with an idiot that has her every other weekend.
