Is there a "best" place to live?

Has anyone ever been told that one place would be better(for cf)
than another?
We live in Mississippi and we have the perfect environment for
germs-hot, humid weather. Plus it gets to the point that blopunky
has trouble breathing outside.
I'm just wondering if a dryer climate would be better-What about
snow? Is it worse on a person with cf? We rarely have
snow here. I just wanted to know if there is such a place?!
Any one have any suggestions?
I live in WI and I find the fall and spring (minus allergy season to be the best). Our winters are definitely better for me than hot/humid, but the air is so dry that I have to make a point to drink extra water otherwise my lungs will become fairly dehydrated. I am guessing that most areas can be argued as better vs. other areas. If I had to choose an area.... San Fransisco. The weather is pretty consistent - not too hot, plus I love the city itself. =)

I tend to belive that the less humidity would be better infection loves hot and humid and i would also guess that living in the cold weather would be easy for one to catch cold but the weather has nothing to do with getting sick they say so who knows I live in arizona and i stay here thinking that this is a good envirment for my son and hes cf but un reality who knows i have asked and wondered the same thing

I think it all depends on what the person's body is used too.

My parents moved to Florida shortly after my diagnosis. We lived in the northern part of Virginia when I was diagnosed - I was born in Bethesda Maryland and diagnosed there as well.

Well we moved to Florida because they thought the warm weather would be best for me. That and there was a good doctor here for me to go to. I was about 1.5 yrs old when we moved here. I am now 24. I will say that I love it here have adjusted to the weather and climate. I can not breathe well at all in dry climates. I have been to Arizona for weekend and week long visits - and everyone I knew told me I would love the climate that it would be SOOO GOOD for me. I hated it because I could barely breathe. I am just used to the weather here. I also know many people (without CF) that move to FL from other areas and other climates and they have a hard time with the humidity.

Our bodies have an amazing way of adjusting and acclimating to our environment. I think that the humid weather may contribute to infections but as to whether one climate or another would be best for your son it may depend on his body. If you were to stay where you are and he grew up there I am sure he would be acclimated to moist, warm, humid areas and if he were in drier cooler climates he may have difficulty initially at least.

I have kind of rambled. My main point is it is really unique to each person I think and what their bodies can handle.

Take Care,
Lindsey

My son was diagnosed in south florida and we were advised that we should think of moving to a cooler climate if possible so thats what we did ,we are in delaware and it seems to be better for him to breathe and better health for him as well. but each person has to do whats best for them and what they can handle...
