Is there a good reason why I shouldn't

when I read your title I thought no, you wouldn't want to have to keep untaping it because duct tape leaves a mess. But when I read that you want to keep the tubes perment to the vest and disconnect from the machine, well, yea, that would work. Just make it a pain to store.

I would try to use that cloth hosiptal tape first. It doesn't seem to leave the messy residue that duct tape does. May not hold though, but would be worth a first try.

A good clear packing tape might work too, without so much goo (I use packing tape for everything around here, lol).

Gaffers Tape leaves NO residue. It is what they use when filimin movies (ever wonder what a gaffer does?).

Also, electricians/vinyl tape might work well too with minimal residue.

I think it sounds like a great idea!

Gaffer's tape is definately the way to go, its kind of pricy but well worth it and you can only get it from theatrical supply stores, its like 15 a roll so go easy on it, that stuff is amazing, you can leave it on there for a long time and then peel it offand it won't leave any sticky. electrical tape will eventually leave sticky, especially if it gets hot but its fairly easy to get off, just use some alcohol or nail polish removal. I agree with the other people that you should probably get a new set of hoses and a new vest and use the old ones to tape up for those frustrating times that the hoses keep coming off
